Running cross continental routes is not the easiest thing to do. It has to have so many things integrated that it might become a top heavy network. This was something of how the quality of networks were before the advent of the internet, satellite trackers and related stuff available or in use these days.
The usage of course is intensive, and while the gadgets used are all high tech, they are actually more affordable than those found in older systems.
